Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, Ian Holloway has said that Blackpool’s players will be ‘fitter than ever’ next season.

Holloway said: ‘I am going to sit down with Steve Thompson and Phil Horner and look at the training schedule I want.’

‘The players will be given tests and they will be fitter than ever.

‘You can’t play at this level without being fit. They are fit anyway but I am going to get them even fitter.

‘They are going to have their own folder, telling them where they stand within the group.

‘It is all state of the art, lovely jubbly … but Ian Holloway-style.

‘So if you don’t try hard for me, just get out – I don’t want you and I don’t like you. If you’re late I’m not waiting for you because you are disrespecting us.

‘The players respond to that. It has worked for me in the past and I’m confident it’s going to work for me now. I can’t wait to get started.’

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston seems to approve of Holloway’s ideas, stating that ‘Ian has a lot of very good ideas on player fitness and there will be a lot more science going into that.

‘I think he is particularly strong on injury recoveries and the way that impacts on the club.

‘He knows the benefits that can be derived from doing a lot more, and having a lot more input in the training, strength and fitness of players.’

It is also reported that Squires Gate will be receiving somewhat of a makeover… perhaps the players will be able to enjoy hot water upon their return!
