It must be horrible being a Preston fan at the moment (well, even horribler than usual!); not only is the club in dire financial straits and facing a winding up order later this month, not only have their rivals the mighty Seasiders gained promotion to the Premier League leaving the Nobbers in their wake, not only have the club been reported to Trading Standards, but now it could be set to get worse with the national media reporting that Blackpool could be on the verge of signing Danny Welbeck on loan from Manchester United from under the noses of Preston.

Welbeck spent a portion of last season on loan at Deepdale, scoring twice in eight games before injury cut his spell at the club short.

It was widely expected that the nineteen year old front man would return to the Nobber next season as Ferguson Junior looks to milk his family connections for all they’re worth, despite pledging not to do so when he first entered management.

However, according to the press, the Seasiders are ready to pounce for the talented young striker, and the offer of Premier League football could prove too enticing for both Welbeck and Man Utd. Saying that, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Ferguson Senior help his son out as much as possible by rejecting any advances from the Seasiders.

Would I like to see us sign him? Yes, but only to piss off the Nobbers.
