PLAYER PROFILE

Left sided midfielder Paul Barratt has been given an extra year by the Academy to prove himself after some impressive performances during the FA Youth Cup success in 2006. The Academy staff feel Barratt is making good progress and deserves the chance to try and show he’s worthy of making the step up to Melwood. Barratt started out at Manchester City before moving to the Academy in the summer of 2004. In the 2004/2005 season he was a regular member of a very young reserve team under the command of Hughie McAuley. He didn’t get as many chances in 2005/2006 but will be hoping to return to reserve team action in the 2006/2007 season. Barratt is the only third year based at the Academy.
