Left midfielder, Rory Prendergast has left the club and has hooked up with old seaside team mate John Doolan at Rochdale.

The move is a permanent one and is only a one year deal, perhaps signifying that Dale aren`t sure whether the winger will produce in League Two or that they cannot commit themselves to a longer contract.

Rent-A-Ghost (my name for him, with him drifting in and out of games!) was signed by Colin Hendry 18 months ago and came with great expectation. Sadly, the former Accy Stanley player has found it difficult in League One, especially this season. The 27 year old stated: “I’m delighted to have made the move and I’m looking forward to playing first team football again. I felt it was the right time to move on for me especially with such a fantastic talent in Wesley Hoolahan limiting my chances.”

Vital Football believes that Rory was offered to Dale a few weeks back but declined the chance as he wanted to fight for first team football at Bloomfield Road. But, as he says, this proved to be a huge ask with the divisions hottest property, Wes Hoolahan occupying the left hand side. Also, whilst Wes was suspended, Rory failed to start.

Everyone at the club said what a fantastic lad Rory is, but couldn`t quite cut it at our level but I for one wish him every success at Rochdale.

Just one more final thing. Colin Hendry`s signings last season were John Doolan, Scott Vernon and Rory Prendergast. You`re getting my drift?
