Real Thing Or False Dawn?

After 2001 will our beloved club learn from it’s mistakes?

It`s back! The feel good factor that is!
So Wembley Stadium – this Sunday the 27th of May 2007 – will determine if Blackpool Football Club are to achieve a longstanding dream of returning to the second tier of the football league, which if we achieve will see us once again do battle once again with the likes of Preston North End & Burnley football clubs.

The feel good factor is once again sweeping through our town at that mouth watering prospect alone.

It really has been a very bitter pill to swallow for us long suffering pool fans having had to endure watching all our local rivals make progress both on and off the pitch whilst Blackpool FC has been left floundering for so long. Don`t tell any nobber or dingle fans I admitted that!

The remarkable turnaround in our club this season has been amazing to say the least!
Simon and the players have really done us proud!

Credit must also go to each and everyone behind the scenes at Blackpool FC. Karl, Owen, Valeri and not forgetting Matt or our new groundsman whom has worked wonders already with our pitch, which according to Larry has certainly helped our home form significantly! I for one am very grateful and proud of each and every one of you for your recent endeavors: thank you so much!

Back to this weeks Final!

Should the unthinkable happen and we fail to triumph over Yeovil Town next weekend it will still have been a great season for Blackpool FC. Hopefully a catalyst to build upon for years to come. The last time there was such a feeling in and around our club was 2001 with the opening of the then 2 new stands and promotion in the play off final at the Millennium Stadium under the guidance of Steve McMahon!

What followed was a period of discontent, uncertainty and frustration for many of our supporters. I believe the directors at Blackpool FC certainly failed to capitalise on what seemed at that time to be an ideal opportunity to take advantage of this new found confidence and air of expectation in and around BFC, with the club needing to move forward.

So here we are again in 2007 with an even bigger prize at stake – “The Championship” and once again a major opportunity to PROGRESS once again lies at our feet!

I certainly hope that whatever the result of Sunday’s final that the string pullers at Blackpool FC don’t make the same mistake again and push forward instead of sitting back and resting on their laurels. It`s so important that our club strives to maintain the current positive feeling around the place and build on it.

In my opinion, a good start would be to tie down Larry to a decent contract and to obtain the permanent signing of one Wesley Hoolahan.

I would also like to see the re-emergence of Owen Oyston actively and openly taking an active roll in BFC instead of pulling the strings from behind the scenes! I believe this would certainly signal steps in the right direction and a major positive, showing signal of intent on the clubs part.

Here`s to the Championship!
COME ON YOU POOL!!!!!!!
