Seasiders Set For Six Pointer

Blackpool will be looking to get back to winning ways and keep in touch with the top six when they take on Leicester City at Bloomfield Road this afternoon.

You might think it’s a bit early in the season to use the phrase ‘six pointer’, but after losing to West Brom on Wednesday night, the Seasiders really, really, really could do with winning against their playoff rivals today.

Anything less than a win today could see a gap open up between us and the top six.

Vital Quotes:

Ian Holloway:

‘Obviously if you look at the league table we’re going to try and win this one, otherwise they’ll be galloping away from us.’

Blackpool Team News:

DJ Campbell will miss the game as he is not allowed to play against his parent club as per the terms of his loan agreement.

Brett Ormerod is still suspended, whilst Hamuer Bouazza also looks set to miss out despite his return from international duty.

Stephen Dobbie is expected to get the nod up front… unless his wife goes into labour!

It’s right back where Blackpool’s real problems lie though: Neal Eardley, Alex Baptiste and Danny Coid all look set to miss the game through injury.

Player to watch: Rob Edwards

Could be forced to play at right back again because of injuries, and depending on who Leicester play on the wing, he could be in for a difficult afternoon.

However, Edwards looked impressive going forward from that position on Wednesday night and Ian Holloway will be expecting more of the same.

Leicester Team News:

Richie Wellens is suspended… bet Canavan still writes about him though!

New loan signing Alex Bruce could feature, but Paul Gallagher misses out through injury.

Player to watch: Martyn Waghorn

Five goals in nine starts for the Foxes, Waghorn could get the nod today with Gallagher out.

Match Facts & Stats

Leicester haven’t won at Bloomfield Road for 73 years.

Blackpool have scored in their last fourteen matches – the longest such run in the league.

They have also rattled the woodwork seventeen times – again, more than anyone in the league.
