Seasiders Through To Final

Blackpool reached the final of the South West Challenge Cup after a 2-1 win over Leyton Orient yesterday afternoon.

With the Seasiders looking jaded, manager Ian Holloway named a youthful side for the game. However, his plans suffered a setback when Danny Coid limped out of the warm up. He was replaced in the side by Franny Jeffers, Ishmel dropping to left back.

And just minutes into the game, the injury situation got worse for ‘Pool; Lewis Almond being forced off with a shoulder injury, Charlie Adam replacing him.

Despite this, it was the Seasiders who took the lead on 23 minutes; Neal Eardley playing the ball through to Jeffers who finished coolly.

A minute before the break though, Scott McGleish headed home an equaliser for Orient.

Blackpool dominated the second half, but it wasn’t until Ian Evatt headed home after Charlie Adam’s freekick had struck the bar in the last minute that ‘Pool’s passage to the final was secured.

Shrewsbury beat Havant and Waterlooville in the other semi final, but then proceeded to pull out of the competition meaning that the Seasiders will now face Havant and Waterlooville in the final.
