Seip Extends Seasiders Stay

Blackpool today extended the loan spell of defender Marcel Seip until 29 December.

The Dutch defender, on loan from Plymouth, has impressed during his month at the club and Ian Holloway was eager to extend the deal up until the January transfer window.

Seip’s fall from grace at Plymouth is well documented, but he seems to be enjoying his spell with the Seasiders and will be looking to continue to impress as he aims to catch the eye of any visiting scouts.

His days at Plymouth certainly seem to be over, but whether or not the Seasiders sign him permanently remains to be seen; manager Ian Holloway is on record as having said that Plymouth’s proposed fee coupled with the defender’s high wages would make any move difficult.

However, with his deal expiring at the end of the season and his Argyle career at an end (at least whilst Paul Sturrock remains at the club), both parties might drop their demands in order to secure a move.

The final game of his loan spell will be the home game against Sheffield Wednesday on 28 December, although Plymouth have inserted a 24 hour recall clause… but I can’t see that happening unless Sturrock gets the axe!

Meanwhile, Ian Holloway looks likely to try and re-sign Jay Emmanuel-Thomas on loan come the New Year.

The utility man’s loan deal runs out after Saturday’s game with Scunthorpe, but Ollie has been impressed with the 18 year old and will try and sign him on a half-season loan come the New Year.
