Ok, you can stop gawping at the title now: the south stand is officially open for business from March 20.

Following years of ‘will it, won’t it’ over the erection of the Jimmy Armfield Stand, the home fans will now be able to enjoy the view from behind the south goal.

The previous stand was demolished in 2003, but will be open for the Crystal Palace fixture a week on Saturday.

Work on the concourse areas in the new structure is still ongoing and has been so for a number of weeks.

So, what does this mean for existing fans?

‘Pool Chairman Karl Oyston said: ‘It is our intention to house the Palace and Swansea supporters (the latter coming to the seaside on March 23) in blocks A and B of the North stand, and fill the remaining sections with home fans.’

Season ticket holders currently located in the Kop are to be moved to the South.

In an extremely pro-active move by the club, they are to hand out 10,000 flyers locally to drum up support for the team and try to fill the new stand.
