Yesterday saw the draw for the South West Challenge Cup take place, with the Seasiders being confirmed as the wildcard entry as they look to replicate their pre-season from last year.

The Seasiders have been drawn into a group with SPL side Kilmarnock, League Two side Accrington Stanley and non league outfit Bideford AFC. However, the Seasiders will only face Kilmarnock and Accrington.

Should the Seasiders top their group, they will face a semi-final and then possibly a final.

Club secretary Matt Williams said:

‘Ian (Holloway) is keen to keep the club’s feet firmly on the ground.

‘Everyone who went down there last season really enjoyed it. The pitches were really good and we were made to feel very welcome.

‘We are a Premier League club now and no doubt whoever we play will raise their game when they face us.’
