Strength in depth

Simon Grayson will no doubt be pleased he has so many players to choose from. After the poor performance at Burnley on Tuesday there will be several players sweating on their places for Saturday’s trip to Birmingham.

And that’s the way it should be. Blackpool hve a strong squad with quality in all positions. That means if you don’t perform your shirt is up for grabs for the players waiting in the wings.

But there is also the need to give players time on the pitch. And if Grayson can’t guarantee that at Bloomfield Road, a loan move elsewhere would be good for all concerned.

That is the consensus from our latest poll with 57% of you in favour of shipping out a few players on loan to get some first team football. The likes of Stuart Green, Michael D’Agostino and Alex Baptiste could be candidates for such moves.

31% of you are happy with the current squad size because of the competition for places the numbers create.

But it’s clear no-one wants Larry to become like Rafa Benitez and rotate his players each week.

Changes will almost certainly be made to the team on Saturday, emphasizing the importance of having a big squad to choose from.
