The Positives

Okay, I know it wasn’t great last night. But it was a marked improvement from the previous debacles against Ipswich and Preston at Bloomfield Road.

Firstly hats off to Joe Martin. A first start of the season at left back and he did a good job. Considering his lack of football his energy levels seemed high. His support play was decent, though I don’t quite know where he was when Marcus Tudgay was left on his own to score Wednesday’s first goal.

On the opposite side Alex Baptiste made an encouraging home debut. He got forward to good effect and the more he plays the better he will get. Though Shaun Barker will have something to say about that.

I felt Steve Kabba had a bright game and he was perhaps our most positive forward player on the night. Unfortunatley he didn’t have a proper goal scoring opportunity.

Some of the passing last night was the best we have seen for a while. The one-touch play between the likes of Gow, Kabba and Hendrie was, at times, very impressive.

Sadly, depsite all the positives the all important result was poor. And that needs to change on Saturday at Home Park against Plymouth.
