Blackpool beat Tiverton Town 2-0 last night in Martyn Rogers’ testimonial in their first pre-season friendly of the summer.

However, despite the win, there was bad news for the Seasiders as Billy Clarke went off injured after two minutes. It is not yet known how serious the (knee) injury is.

Clarke will have been disappointed not to have had the chance to make an impression having started as part of a front three alongside Brett Ormerod and Gary Taylor-Fletcher.

Charlie Adam, David Vaughan and Keith Southern started in midfield, whilst Matt Gilks was protected by a back four of Stephen Crainey, Ian Evatt, Alex Baptiste and Neal Eardley.

It was Clarke’s replacement Ishmel who created the first goal; his shot being deflected in for an own goal.

Ishmel also had a part in the second as well; taking the corner that was headed home (although it looked like the ball didn’t cross the line) by Rob Edwards.

French trialist Malaury Martin played the whole second half, whilst the closing stages also saw a second trialist appear for the Seasiders, although Vital believes that this second player could well have been Dekel Keinan who is currently waiting on a work permit for his move to Bloomfield Road.
