Sky Sports are reporting that Ipswich have joined the chase for Leicester striker DJ Campbell.

Campbell has of course spent two very successful loan spells at Blackpool, and both the club and the player are desperate to make that move a permanent one.

However, failure to agree a fee – with Leicester demanding almost £2 million for the player – could well have let in Roy Keane’s Ipswich, who it could be argued have more money than sense.

Another potential twist in the saga could be the departure of Foxes manager Nigel Pearson, who has joined Hull. Pearson did not rate Campbell, but his replacement might well do.

In other news, Vital has been led to believe that The Sun’s report that negotiations for Blackpool to sign Bayern Munich striker Deniz Yilmaz had broken down may be premature.
