Luke Varney has stated that he’d be ‘delighted’ if he stayed at Blackpool beyond his loan spell.

The 27-year-old has been a revelation since moving on loan from Derby County in the summer.

Formely of Crewe and Sheffield Wednesday, Varney has notched an impressive four goals from left wing so far this campaign, including the winner at Liverpool.

He also scored a contender for goal of the month on Saturday, with a brilliant dipping volley helping secutre three points against Wolves.

Talking on a possible deal at Blackpool, Varney said: “I would be delighted if something could be done because I’ve never enjoyed my football so much. Hopefully something can be sorted out in January or if not then at the end of the season.”

His sparkling form has seen Ian Holloway desperate to land his man in the near future.

The manager is calm about it though, despite obvious interest from elsewhere: ‘We are going to sign him in January.

‘We have a massive clause in there. He can’t go anywhere else and we get him for £250,000.

‘They can’t change that, there’s nothing they can do about it. Unlucky.’

Could it be that Varney is the Premiership bargain of the season?
