The League 2 season continued with the latest round of play-off games.

What an advert for League 2 football – Exeter-Carlisle and Luton-Blackpool ties saw another 11 goals on the night (22 over the four games) as the Grecians and Tangerines booked Wembley dates.

Here’s a round-up of the action.

Results

Thursday 18th May 2017 – LEAGUE TWO
Exeter City 3-2 Carlisle United 19:45 (6-5 agg)
Luton Town 3-3 Blackpool 19:45 (5-6 agg)

Level at 3-3 from the first leg at Brunton Park, Exeter had been two up with less than 10 minutes to play before Carlisle looked to have forced extra time with a last minute equaliser at St James Park. However, the Grecians’ winner on the night deep into added time saw them to a 3-2 victory and a 6-5 aggregate win.

Having been a goal up Blackpool then slipped 3-1 behind as Luton looked set for a place at Wembley. However, in a dramatic finale Pools forced what appeared to be extra time until Hatters keeper Stuart Moore’s unfortunate own goal deep into added time saw the Tangerines draw 3-3 on the night, advancing 6-5 on aggregate.

Exeter and Blackpool will now meet later this month for the right to join League 2 champions Portsmouth, Plymouth and Doncaster in League 1 next season.
