Blackpool’s goal problems this season appeared to be lessening after Saturday’s 5-0 thumping of Scunthorpe, but there’s no shying away from the fact that Blackpool haven’t scored enough goals this season.
Mark Cullen and Jack Redshaw have had good games and have scored 12 goals between them this season and the addition of Danny Philliskirk also looks to be a good one, but Pool have seriously lacked a powerful forward at times and also haven’t created enough chances in many games.
Uche Ikpeazu fits the description of a powerful forward. At 6ft 2 the 20 year old possesses fair amount of strength and the ability to hold off defenders and has proven he can score goals.
If he is able to impress Neil McDonald enough to earn a starting place and can form a partnership with one of the other forwards in the squad, then Pool could improve going forward.
Though with Redshaw and Philliskirk impressing last game, Ikpeazu might have to be patient for his first start. Pool certainly have options up front now and can hopefully go on to score far more goals in this half of the season than the first half and Ikpeazu could play an important part in that happening.
