Would you have Wes back?

Last season was all about survival. This was achieved and some impressive performances and results were also evident.

Some of Blackpool’s stand out performers from last year are of course no longer with us. You’ve been voting this week on who you would have back in the Blackpool team now.

Wing wizard Wes Hoolahan was way ahead in the poll collecting 44 per cent of the vote. Any team would miss Wes and his creativity. And there have been many times this season that we have been crying out for some genius on the ball. But we have moved on and with the signing of Charlie Adam our options down the left side suddenly look impressive. Wes has finally started to re-produce some of the form that earned him his move to Norwich in the first place. His goal against Southampton recently was exceptional.

Coming in second was Paul Dickov. His goals at the end of last season were crucial in keeping Blackpool up. Ironically his debut goal against Leicester which won Pool the game contributed significantly to the league which his current club plays in. Now of course we’ve got another Leicester forward who is looking rather sharp and potent.

Kaspars Gorkss came a close third with 22 per cent of the vote. The Latvian centre back had a terrific season with Pool in the Championship. Eight goals and a string of solid displays culminated in a move to QPR where he is beginning to show his quality again. Although he was largely untroubled, he looked commanding in last week’s defeat to Rangers. His replacement, Rob Edwards, has done a good job partnering Ian Evatt at the heart of Blackpool’s defence.
