Rumours surrounding a loan return back to Mansfield Town for Alex John-Baptiste have been rubbished by Stags manager Billy McEwan.

The Conference side had publicly said they were in the market for a defender, thought to be from The Championship on a three month loan deal.

However, despite AJB’s obvious love for Town, the manager had this to say when asked about a possible move:

‘There is no truth in that – we couldn’t afford him, it is just one of many rumours.’

It is thought that Simon Grayson would like to let some of his fringe players move on loan, but whether dropping down so many divisions for Baptiste would be a good idea or not is questionable.
