On the pitch:
A Steve Kabba cracker four minutes from time was enough to beat Barnsley, the first time Pool have registered a league win against the Tykes at Bloomfield Road since 1981.
Pool`s first home win of the season has set up the two away games coming up at Burnley and Birmingham very nicely.

The reserves got one over Preston by easing to a 2-0 win at Fleetwood with Danny Nardiello and promising youngster Dominic Merella scoring the goals.

Off the pitch:
Chairman Karl Oyston revealed Pool`s wage bill is the highest it`s ever been. The contracts have to be good to attract the best players to Bloomers to keep us in the Championship.

Latvian director Normunds Malnaks left the club for family reasons. Club president Valery Belekon is already on the lookout for a replacement in Latvia. We wish Normunds all the best for the future and let`s hope he keeps on supporting the Pool!

On the injury front there was good and bad news. First the good and Joe Martin and Danny Nardiello are back in first team action after frustrating injuries.

The bad news concerns last year`s player of the season Stephen Crainey. The left back will miss the next six weeks with a groin problem which was operated on during the week.

Mo Camara will continue at left back in the Scot`s absence after extending his loan deal from Derby for another month.

Best thread on the forum:
The award this week goes to Platos for initiating a debate about how many footballers regularly smoked during their careers in by-gone days. Perhaps not the best way to prolong your career. Still, for the young-uns it was great to read about some of the Pool old boys and the tricks they got up to, including Graham Oates, a player I had never heard of before! Keep up the good work on the forum boys! Have a Tangerine-tastic week!
