Bristol City 2 – 2 Burnley
Gary Johnson’s side remain unbeaten, but will have been sickened by Clarke Carlisle’s late leveller for the Clampets. Andy Gray had earlier put the away side in front, only for former Pool target Darren Byfield to score twice before Carlisle’s last gasp effort.

Crystal Palace 3 – 2 Sheff Utd
Mark Hudson’s own goal gave the Yorkshire outfit the lead before Tom Soares and Carl Fletcher put Palace in front. James Beattie levelled for the visitors, only for Ben Watson to fire home the winner a minute from time from the penalty spot.

Charlton 2 – 0 Leicester
Gary Megson tasted defeat for the first time as City boss as goals from Chris Iwelumo and Luke Varney secured the three points for the Addicks.

QPR 1 – 1 Watford
Pool’s next league opponents Watford remain at the summit of The Championship despite only drawing with ten man QPR. Adam Johnson scored for the Hornets, with Stefan Moore equalising. Mikele Leigertwood was sent off for the home side.

Scunthorpe 2 – 3 West Brom
Andy Crosby scored for the home team from the spot, before goals from Leon Barnett, Chris Brunt and Felipe Teixeira gave the Baggies the lead. Martin Paterson pulled one back in vein for Scunny.

Sheff Wed 1 – 0 Hull
Wednesday won their first league game of the season courtesy of Francis Jeffers.

Southampton 2 – 3 Barnsley
Two Grant McCann freekicks fired the visitors into the lead only for Marek Saganowski and Inigo Idiakez to level. Werling was dismissed for Barnsley, but the Yorkshiremen won it thanks to Martin Devaney.

Stoke 3 – 2 Plymouth
The home team won a topsy turvy encounter at the Britannia. Marcel Seip scored at both ends to make it 1 – 1. Rory Fallon put the visitors in front only for Liam Lawrence and Ricardo Fuller to win it for Stoke.

Wolves 2 – 0 Norwich
First half goals from Kevin Foley and Andy Keogh won the points for Wolves. City’s misery was compounded after the break with the dismissals of Jason Shackell and Julien Brellier.
