It has been confirmed this morning that Billy Clarke has left the Seasiders’ tour of Devon to return to Blackpool for tests on his injured knee.

Clarke picked the injury up just two minutes into Blackpool’s opening friendly of the summer – a 2-0 win over Tiverton.

And despite hopes that it was just a slight knock, Clarke has now been sent back to Bloomfield Road for treatment and is reportedly on crutches.

The news will come as a massive blow to ‘Pool manager Ian Holloway, with his playing resources already stretched to the limit.
