Blackpool have this afternoon confirmed that forward Billy Clarke will be out of action for at least two months – news first reported by Vital.

The player suffered a knee injury during Blackpool’s friendly victory over Tiverton and was sent home from the club’s tour of Devon for scans on the injury.

Speaking to the official website this afternoon, ‘Pool manager Ian Holloway said:

‘He’s going to be out for at least two months, possibly three.

‘He’s definitely got a meniscus which is cartilage and got an anterior cruciate which is torn.

‘I feel for the boy. It is the last thing we needed.

‘He looked sharp as a tack. He was ready to go and try and get a place in our team really.

‘He was hampered last year with a knee injury when he was on fire. It’s an occupational hazard I’m afraid but when you’ve got as few numbers as I’ve got it makes it a tad difficult.’
