In our latest poll on Vital you’ve been voting on which young player will make the biggest impression with Pool this season. And the surprise winner is a Canadian winger who was on loan at Cheltenham last year.

Michael D’Agostino, 21, is a right sided midfield player who made 14 starts for Cheltenham in League One last season.

The winger, who helped the Robins survive last term, started in the friendly win over Fleetwood yesterday. D’Agostino will be looking to make a big impression in pre-season to try to force his way into Simon Grayson’s first team plans. He would appear to be in competition with Taylor-Fletcher, Wiles and Coid for the right midfield berth.

Joe Martin came second in our poll with 32% of the votes. The left sided player looks to be a real talent and he showed great maturity in his first league appearance against Watford last May.

Young Danny Mitchley beat Alex John-Baptiste and Matty Kay to third spot in the poll. The striker created quite an impression in the youth and reserve sides last season scoring virtually every week. And with Pool being light in the striking department despite the signing of Steve Kabba, Mitchley will be looking to break into the first team squad this year.

This week’s poll asks how important you think the pre-season friendly results are. Get voting!
