DJ Campbell is set to sign for Blackpool after a fee has been agreed with Leicester City, according to Sky Sports News.

It’s thought that DJ will sign a two-year deal worth around £10,000-a-week plus bonuses.

However, Radio Leicester journalist Ian Stringer – who normally has his finger on the pulse – has said that he’s fearful that Campbell is leaving the Walkers but that a deal is not yet done.

And judging by Blackpool’s transfer record this summer, there could be a long way to run!

The striker has been a long-term target of the Seasiders and has been hugely impressive in two loan spells at the club.

His first was the catalyst for keeping Tony Parkes’ team in the Championship, as DJ notched nine goals to steer them clear of relegation.

A year on and his signing was a huge boost in the quest for promotion and his eight goals in 14 starts were massive and obviously included a sparkling hat-trick in the playoffs away at Nottingham Forest.

Campbell has made no secret of his love of the club and it was believed that he agreed terms weeks ago. However, it was the transfer fee that has always been a sticking point, with the Foxes and ‘Pool’s valuation being way apart.

Sky Sports are reporting that Campbell will sign today but even if a deal has been done, it’s probably likely he’d be announced as late as possible ahead of Saturday’s game against Fulham.
