Could it be that Sky Sports News have once again jumped the gun with regards to transfers?

It could seem so, as just hours after they reported that DJ Campbell was set to sign for Blackpool, manager Ian Holloway has refuted the claims.

Speculation had been growing that Campbell was set to move to Bloomfield Road on a permanent two-year deal, which began last night.

However, Holloway was keen to quash those reports – which have become more substantial today – stating that they were ‘wide of the mark’.

There is a dilemma here. Ollie is known for his media mind-games and in recent times during his spell at the Seasiders, has kept all transfer dealings close to his chest.

Rejecting claims about DJ could see a possible transfer move smoother for all concerned, without added media pressure.

It is equally likely that Sky have again got ahead of their station with regards to transfers.

Only time will tell whether DJ will be in tangerine by Tuesday, but what we do know is that Marlon Harewood has been ruled out of Saturday’s game against Fulham. The striker suffered a slight hamstring tear after the Arsenal game and will miss out.

Holloway also said in his weekly press conference that the club are close to signing three new players – two of which are believed to be strikers. He aims to bring in at least six before the deadline in five days time.
