First Premiership Game Switched

The Seasiders’ first game of the 2010/11 Premiership season will now be away to Wigan Athletic.

‘Pool had been scheduled to play the Latics at home on August 14, but slow-moving ground improvements meant it had to be switched to the DW Stadium, as first revealed in yesterday’s News Of The World.

The new East stand is set to be ready for the home game against Fulham on August 28 and the club are due a compensation payment from Slick Systems because the temporary structure won’t be ready for the first game.

This all means that Ian Holloway’s side now start with two tough trips at Wigan and then Arsenal, although fans should be grateful that we’re not playing Wigan at Deepdale, which the News Of The World revealed to Vital was a possibility.

This means that the Seasiders now have four key home games on the trot in April against Arsenal, Wigan, Newcastle and Stoke during the run-in.

Tickets for the game at Wigan will go on sale in the next week.
