Ian Holloway has today said that he’s looking forward to the new season, and The Seasiders’ first game away at his old club QPR.

But the new gaffer insists that the match at Loftus Road on 8th August isn’t about him, and he’s fully intent on showing the R’s what his new side can do.

‘I can’t wait to get there and show them what we’re all about,’ he said.

‘It won’t be about Ian Holloway or QPR. It will be about Blackpool getting off to a good start.’

In an incredible upbeat interview with the local press, Holloway has an amazing grasp on the heritage behind the club as he spoke about past greats such as Mortensen, Suddick, Matthews and co.

He continued: ‘I just can’t wait to take the tangerine army there and give it a right good go. It’s a good time to play them (QPR).’

QPR manager Jim Magilton had his say on the opening fixture, albeit not half as lively as ‘Pool’s man.

‘I wanted a home fixture first up and we’ve got that. The fact it’s Ian Holloway adds a bit of spice to the occasion.’
