Following Shrewsbury’s decision to pull out of the Joma South West Challenge Cup following their semi final victory over Havant and Waterlooville, Blackpool were announced as the competition’s winners having won the other semi final against Leyton Orient.

However, determined not to disappoint the travelling fans and the tournament’s organisers, Ian Holloway arranged for the Seasiders to play what would have been the final against Havant and Waterlooville this afternoon in an 80 minute match.

The Seasiders lined up thus: Rachubka, Edwards, Eastham, Evatt, Ishmel, Adam, Baptiste, Husband, Ormerod, Jeffers and Euell.

It was the Seasiders’ non-league opponents who opened the scoring though; Steven Ramsey poking the ball home after quarter of an hour.

Tiryaki then doubled their lead ten minutes before the break in what was proving to be an end to end game.

Blackpool pulled a goal back five minutes before half time though; Charlie Adam converting from the spot after a foul on Baptiste.

Blackpool dominated the second half but didn’t equalise until the 68th minute when Jason Euell headed home.

And four minutes later they got the winner through an own goal as their opponents began to tire.
