The Daily Mail are today linking Blackpool with a move for Arsenal striker Jay Simpson.

Simpson, who is 21 and a product of the Arsenal youth academy, has been told that he is surplus to requirements at the Emirates – news that is said to have alerted Fulham, Hull and the Seasiders.

The striker – who fits into Ollie’s plans of signing young players – has one year left to run on his contract and has previously enjoyed loan spells at Millwall, West Brom and QPR.

Meanwhile, Ian Holloway has today urged Seasiders supporters to be patient about the club’s transfer activity this summer as more and more supporters have begun to raise concerns that the club are yet to sign anyone.

In related news, BBC Radio Humberside confirmed yesterday that Ollie had held talks about the vacant managers job at Hull, but that the position is expected to be filled by Leicester’s Nigel Pearson.

It’s very possible that the ever canny Ollie is using Hull’s interest to negotiate a better contract for himself, and that the delays over his new deal at Bloomfield Road are doing nothing to aid transfer negotiations for the Premier League’s newest club.
