Blackpool have this evening announced the signing of striker Craig Sutherland on a two year deal with a two year option.

The 22 year old – who has been playing college football in America – looked set to sign for Reading according to reports earlier today, but the Seasiders have nipped in to snatch him from under the Berkshire club’s noses after he caught Ian Holloway’s interest following trials at the likes of St. Mirren and Dumbarton up in Scotland earlier this summer.

According to his bio on the North Carolina State university website, Sutherland has played at the 2009 World University Games, has racked up several goals and assists, won several awards and also represented his home nation of Scotland at athletics.

Sutherland has gone straight onto the bench for tonight’s pre-season friendly against Hibernian.
