As expected, the Premier League have announced that Blackpool will not be investigated after Saturday evening’s game against Manchester United – scheduled to be screened on ESPN – was postponed.
Referee Peter Walton called the game off on Friday afternoon following a pitch inspection; a decision that has seen the official criticised as conditions improved overnight.
However, despite the efforts of the club’s groundstaff to get the game on, the fact remains that had the club been over-prepared for the forecasted weather conditions (which you can argue that they should have been), then the game would have gone ahead.
‘Pool’s match was the only Premier League fixture to fall victim to the weather, and this led to fears of a Premier League investigation, especially as Birmingham City were fined £25,000 last season following a postponement. However, it is Vital’s understanding that the circumstances surrounding the Birmingham postponement were very different, and that in fact (behind closed doors), BFC have been praised for their efforts to get the game on.

Meanwhile, the club are still waiting to hear if the Premier League are going to charge them following manager Ian Holloway’s decision to make ten changes to his side for the game at Aston Villa last month.
The League have written to the Seasiders asking them to explain the changes, which Ollie has done vehemently.
‘Pool’s manager has drawn a lot of support for his stance, but whether that support equates to a lack of charge and fine remains to be seen.
