Andy D’Urso has been named the man in black for Saturday’s derby day fixture at Preston.

The Essex-based official, who has taken charge of just one Blackpool game this season, has been a regular in The Championship since his demotion from the Premier League in 2006.

D’Urso was referee for arguably ‘Pool’s finest hour since the FA Cup final victory back in 1953 when Simon Grayson’s team overcame Yeovil Town 2-0 at Wembley in the League One playoff final two years ago.

And last season he was again involved in the playoff lottery – officiating the League One playoff final between Doncaster Rovers and Leeds United.

This campaign has seen him hand out 111 yellow cards and 9 reds in his 33 games.

In our men in black table of referees, D’Urso sits in second place, after good showings away against Leicester City and Scunthorpe United last season, and Wolves this term.
