The Rock is crocked

Ian ‘the rock’ Evatt was withdrawn early on in the Colchester game last Saturday with a suspected knee injury. The results of scans on Evatt’s knee show there to be medial knee ligament damage. Furthermore, to compound Evatt’s misery, his shin has been badly bruised, meaning we are unlikely to see ‘Evo’ pull on a Tangerine shirt until the new year.

The news will come as a major blow for Simon Grayson, with defensive cover at a premium. Also, with games coming thick and fast, Larry will be forced to dip into the loan market. Grayson told the official website: ‘ We are down to the bare bones now so it might be important to get one or two in now.’ Understatement of the century! Simon is sure to at least attempt to bring in long term target Andy Wilkinson on loan with a view for a permanent move. Wilkinson would provide an excellent option across the back four, and may potentially slot in at left back following the news that Stephen Crainey has damaged his hamstring.

It is clear that reinforcements need to be brought in to beef up this now injury ravaged squad to enable us to consolidate our top ten position. Fingers crossed, its over to you now Larry!
