The Seasiders recorded their most impressive win of pre-season this afternoon as Oldham Athletic were brushed aside 4-2 at Boundary Park.

Ian Holloway again fielded a number of trialists in a squad which looked very thin on the ground.

Will Haining and Anthony Brann were again used by ‘Pool and it looks as if one out of the two will be offered a contract at Bloomfield Road.

They were joined by former Chelsea midfield Enrique De Lucas who joined the club late this week to take his place in the starting eleven. Watford recently offered him a deal but couldn’t afford his demands.

And then there is former Walsall winger Demontagnac who, playing his third game in tangerine, must be close to a contract.

As for the game, the Latics took an early lead when a Keigan Parker cross found Pavel Abbott who struck home inside five minutes.

However, Blackpool fought back immediately in a fiery encounter as first Ben Burgess then Keith Southern overhauled the home sides early lead to make it 2-1.

Before the end of the opening period Oldham were back on level terms when Abbott doubled his tally for the game.

But after adjusting the team a fair bit in the second half, and most notably the introduction of Brett Ormerod, The Seasiders over-powered the League One outfit.

Ormerod struck twice towards the end of the second half to seal a comfortable 4-2 win for ‘Pool who will definitely take heart from the fact they beat a decent team with a side which probably won’t resemble the one which will play next Saturday.

Demontagnac again looked threatening on the wing and is worthy of a contract. Any move for the winger could see any interest in Albert Adomah diminish; incidentally the Barnet midfielder scored today.

A huge week in the history of Blackpool FC commences on Monday. Rumours about the Chairman’s position and the money we have to spend won’t go away. We’re in for that rollercoaster end to a pre-season again; would we have it any other way?
