Saturday Transfer Target Watch

We take a look (and ok a guess, but what’s the harm in that?) at Blackpool’s public transfer targets and what they’ve been up to this pre-season Saturday.

The ongoing saga surrounding Charlie Adam’s move to Bloomfield Road could finally be over. The Scotsman was left out of the Rangers squad of 22 which faced PSG this afternoon and after manager Ian Holloway secured more funds for transfer spending, this could be the biggest hint yet that ‘Pool have secured their man.

A fee believed to be £500k was publicly agreed between the two clubs some weeks ago but contract negotiations were thought to be the stumbling block.

However, this is the first Ger’s friendly Adam has been left out of this pre-season.

His team-mate Alan Gow could also be on his way to The Seasiders in a shock move. The striker, who can also play wide left in a five man midfield, has been left out of the senior Rangers party playing in the Emirates Cup this weekend and has joined up with the youth team in Northern Ireland for their games.

Whether this indicates Gow will be joining us or not is unclear, but it seems obvious that he is currently out of favour at Ibrox and the club are looking to offload.

If a transfer were to ensue it’d prove a massive turnaround for Gow in the space of six months after he turned down Blackpool in January.

Another midfielder, Albert Adomah, was in the sights of Ian Holloway. The Barnet man played for The Bees today and actually scored the opening goal against Ebbsfleet; a move looks highly unlikely after trialist Demontagnac is impressing on that left wing, the interest in Alan Gow and Barnet’s over-priced evaluation of their man. They did however sign a new winger yesterday.

Striker Reuben Reid decided that West Brom were a better club to join in order to progress his career rather than ‘Pool. He joins Simon Cox at the Hawthorns as Roberto Di Matteo builds a more ‘football league’ looking squad – could this be their downfall and will Reid get a game?

Right back Neal Eardley was left out of the Oldham squad today as they lost to The Seasiders 4-2. This again indicates an imminent deal to prise the Welsh international away from Boundary Park but will it be to us or not? Coventry City are also said to be interested but rumours suggest he could become a Blackpool player soon.

Finally, Gergely Rudolf is a name picked up via manager Ian Holloway’s twitter a few weeks ago. The striker, playing for Debrecen, is one of the brightest things to come out of Hungary in the last few years. Although a tenuous link, it’s a bit of fun – the 24-year-old has played a few Champions League games this campaign already, but after Ollie’s record in the Hungarian market in the past (and Rudolf having the same agent as another IH signing – Kriztian Timar), who’s to say he won’t pull this rabbit out of the hat?

It’s going to be an interesting week, folks!
