Blackpool VitalFootball understands that the Russian international Vladimir But is in talks with Blackpool FC about a possible move to Bloomfield Road, whilst on trial with the club.

The creative midfielder comes with an excellent pedigree. He won the treble in 1997 with Borussia Dortmund, winning The Champions League, The Weltpokalsieger and The Bundesliga. He also won the Bundesliga in 1999 with Dortmund.

The 29 year old midfielder had a brief lonely spell with the Dortmund reserves, known as Dortmund II. This then followed a move to Freiburg, then to Hannover96 three years later. He has just recently signed for Russian Premier League side Shinnik Jaroslavl. He had scored 25 times in 132 appearances in Germany.

The goalscoring midfielder had apparently been spotted at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday prior to the Carling Cup clash with Barnsley.

Rivals Burnley have also been linked with But, as he went to Turf Moor for a trial.

Could this be the best signing in our recent history? judging by his CV, and if we can sort out terms for him, then yes!

Impressive c.v. but I’ll believe it when it happens. I suspect he’s lost his way a little since being a Champions League winner otherwise he’d be setting his sights a bit higher than league 1.

Yes indeed, I will believe it when I see it. Our trouble is that now everyone knows that we may well be after him, and that he may well be on trial here, you can bet that Ronnie Moore and his plastic Wirral Rovers scousers will be after him, as well as a host of other clubs too.

Oh well, at least Claus Jorgensen’s joined us!

Is he related to Nicky? Looks similar.
