Where are they now?

One of very few bright young prospects to break into the Blackpool first team over the past few years, Jamie had something all of England wanted – a decent left foot!

The 22 year old was always on the fringes of the first team at Bloomfield Road. Burns rose to prominence during the 2003 season in League One, most notably after scoring an FA Cup screamer against non – leaguers Boreham Wood.

However it was under Colin Hendry that Burns was to get his longest run in the Pool first team. Jamie became a regular in Hendry`s first season in charge, until Paul Edwards` took over the left wing position.

Burns made over 50 appearances for the Seasiders`, but despite some promising performances never truly fulfilled his potential with us.

In November 2006 Jamie moved on loan to Morecambe. Such was the youngsters` impression at Christie Park that the Shrimps` signed him permanently in January 2007.

Burns helped Morecambe to Play Off glory in May, sending the Shrimps` up into the football league for the first time.

This season Burnesy has struggled to break into a Morecambe team which has excelled in League Two. Sammy McIlroy`s side currently sit in 8th place and could yet push for a play off place at the end of the season.

A natural left footer, Jamie has something that many footballers` can only dream about. Hopefully he can push on with Morecambe and prove himself to be the player we know he can be.

I’ll still never forget his performance in the LDV trophy against MK Dons at Bloomers. Scored twice and could have had a hat-trick. One of his crosses was even put into his own net by a Dons defender with a fantastic diving header, classic moment.
