Where are they now?

Edwards` started out at Ashton Gate where he spent almost 8 years with Bristol City, clocking up over 150 appearances for the Robins. In August 1998 Rob made the move to the north west to sign for Preston. The left back/centre back made 138 appearances for the Dungdale club before then Pool boss Colin Hendry brought him to Bloomfield Road in 2004.

During his two years as a Seasider, Rob helped the club stave off the threat of relegation with a number of solid displays. He even popped up with a goal – Pool`s first of the 2004/05 season – scoring a sublime free kick against Sheffield Wednesday. That`s one I remember well as it was on my birthday!

Steady Eddie racked up 53 appearances in Tangerine before Simon Grayson released him in the summer of 2006. It was then that Edwards’ signed up with his current club Exeter City of the Blue Square Premier.

The defender won the player of the season award in his first year at the club, helping them to the play off final at Wembley where Morecambe triumphed over the Grecians.

Edwards` has been an ever present in the Exeter defence again this season as the Grecians lie 9th in the table.

Rob was a consistent performer for Pool in a difficult time for the club as we battled to avoid relegation from League One. Although lacking pace, Edwards` always read the game very well and was also decent in the air. Despite dividing opinion amongst supporters`, it is my view that Rob did very well for the club. All the best Rob and let`s hope he and Exeter can make it back into the football league very soon.
