Blackpool have had the better of the first half against Sheffield United tonight, but go in at half time all square.

Despite the seven changes, the Seasiders have been playing some good football, with full back Neal Eardley particularly catching the eye with his marauding runs forward.

The first chance of the game came on 5 minutes, but Darius Henderson could only fire a tame shot at Matt Gilks.

On the 15 minute mark, ‘Pool captain Jason Euell headed just wide after a good attacking move, whilst at the other end, Gilks saved again from Henderson.

Neal Eardley then produced two great crosses that nearly saw the Seasiders take the lead; Morgan cleared the first one just as Euell was about to pull the trigger, before the same player cleared from under his own cross bar after ‘keeper Mark Bunn dropped the ball.

The Blades look most dangerous from set pieces, but James Harper did forced Matt Gilks into a save with Stephen Quinn putting the resulting parry wide.

The recalled Brett Ormerod flicked an Emmanuel-Thomas shot just wide with Bunn beaten on the half hour, before the same players both failed to score after a penalty box scramble on the verge of half time.

Richard Cresswell and Neal Eardley ended the half in the referee’s book after Cresswell crudely fouled the Welshman, and the ‘Pool full back retaliated.

Ian Holloway will be looking for a bit extra in the final third in the second half, and might be considering bring Hamuer Bouazza on to stretch the game a bit more.

The Blades are dangerous opponents though, and a tough second half awaits.
