Blackpool have signed Luke Varney on a season-long loan from Derby County.

The 27-year-old striker has played just four games for the Rams since his move from Charlton in 2009 and has since spent three loan spells at relegated Sheffield Wednesday.

After being a huge success at Charlton, then County manager Chris Hutchings spent £2million on Varney.

At Sheffield Wednesday, the former Crewe man still got goals despite playing in a underachieving side.

And Ian Holloway thinks he can slot straight into ‘Pool’s flexible 4-3-3 system.

‘He’s got some pace and I think he’ll play really well in a 4-3-3. I think he’ll slot straight into our system and hopefully I can get him going again,’ the manager said.

Meanwhile, there are yet more rumours surrounding DJ Campbell’s proposed move to Bloomfield Road, with reports suggesting that the Foxes now want even more money for the striker.

Also, Vital Blackpool understands that Guinean international Mamadou Bah will sign from Strasbourg.
