Barry Bannan has signed for The Seasiders from Aston Villa on loan today.

The 19-year-old, who plays in midfield, will stay at Bloomfield Road until the end of the January transfer window and has already tasted league football with Derby County.

Following that successful spell at Pride Park, Rams gaffer Nigel Clough said: ‘the quality a young player from a Premier League club could bring to the squad would be as good as, if not better, than anything we [Derby County] could bring in on a permanent basis.’

But it’s Ian Holloway who has won the race to sign the young Scotsman who inevitably has received national honours at Under 21 level.

At just 5ft 7in he could find the rough and tumble of Championship football a challenge but his ability on the ball should see him become a hit by the seaside.

In other news, DJ Campbell signed for Bannan’s former club Derby County on loan. Ian Holloway failed in his attempts to lure a striker to ‘Pool.

Ashley Eastham follows a loan move to Hyde United up with a step up to league football as League Two side Cheltenham Town have taken him on until 2 January.

This lad is top quality.Small, but tremendously gifted. You will enjoy watching him play. He can’t be far away from a start for Villa, and the experience will be great for him…and Blackpool.Enjoy and good luck
